  • Become a Board Member of the Daley Library Student Advisory Board

The Richard J. Daley Library is looking for students interested in a leadership opportunity in joining our Student Advisory Board and providing feedback as we improve our spaces and services in ways that are responsive to student needs. You don’t need to be a library “superuser.” You just need to be willing to lend the library your leadership skills to improve the academic experience of all UIC students.

Board members consist of undergraduate students who will serve 2-year terms to provide advice and support to the UIC Library and act as liaisons to the general UIC student body. The Advisory Board will meet three times a semester (lunch provided) at the Richard J. Daley Library in RM 1-470, one Thursday per month of each semester.

For this upcoming Fall semester, meetings are scheduled for:

     Thursday, September 17th (11:00-12:30)

    Thursday, October 15th (11:00-12:30)

    Thursday, November 12th (11:00-12:30)

We hope you are interested in serving with other student leaders on the Board as the library strongly values student input. Please contact Isabel Gonzalez-Smith [igonza9@uic.edu] or Annie Pho [apho@uic.edu] with your interest. We welcome any questions you may have!

  • Paid Part-Time Legal Internships in July with allRise

We are allRise, a legal startup that helps litigators better manage their schedules by providing live courtroom updates.

We are currently looking for paid, part-time interns for the month of July. We've had a very successful start to our summer intern program, and we are continuing and expanding our program in July.

What you'll do: Get an up-close look at how the court-system works and see what it's like to be a litigator. As a Courtroom Observer (the official title for our interns), you will follow court proceedings in a Cook County courtroom, and use our technology platform to update attorneys on case progress. This is an essential role to help us us demonstrate our product to the legal community.

Who we are looking for: Undergrad and recent grads that are considering law careers, who are interested in learning about the court system. Available to work 9am-12:30pm three days per week (M-F) or more. You should have reliable transportation to get to the Daley Center (Clark and Randolph in the Loop) and be able to carry yourself in a professional manner in a courtroom environment.

We offer paid training (we will give you a crash course in the legal system, knowledge you won't learn in law school), and ongoing career development sessions with practicing attorneys.

Interested students should email George Vavaroutsos with information about themselves AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (an up-to-date resume is great but not required), and we'll set up a time for a phone screening this week.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email (operations@allriseapp.com) or call (847-340-0579) George Vavaroutsos for more information.
