  We are looking for an intern interested in children’s literature, librarianship, and/or publishing to help with a number of research and archival projects. Possible projects include: updating our awards webpages, including Newbery and Caldecott sections, of the ALSC website with interesting and historical material (scanning/uploading photos, digitizing/uploading speeches, adding an FAQ section); create and converting manuals that exist as Word documents into Web-based documents; possible award-winning author/illustrator interviews.

It is a celebration of both the raconteur, who breathes fire into true tales of ordinary life, and the storytelling novice, who has lived through something extraordinary and yearns to share it. At the center of each performance is, of course, the story – and The Moth’s directors work with each storyteller to find, shape and present it.

  The Moth now has two seasons for which we hire interns: Fall (July-December) and Spring (January-June). Each season we seek one Development Intern, one Multimedia intern and three Production Interns: one to support the national StorySLAM program, the other two to support the New York and touring Mainstage Programs.   The Yiddish Book Center in Amherst, Massachusetts, is now accepting applications for two education programs for college students and recent graduates: the 2015 Steiner Summer Yiddish Program and the 2015-16 Yiddish Book Center Fellowship Program. 

   

  The Steiner Summer Yiddish Program is an intensive seven-week course in Yiddish language and culture for college students. The program offers a beginner track for students with no previous Yiddish experience and an intermediate track for those who have completed one year of Yiddish. In addition to their classes, students take part in cultural and social activities at the Center. Students live and eat at the adjacent Hampshire College campus.

   

  All Steiner students receive full-tuition scholarships. Intermediate students also receive free housing and a $1,000 stipend in exchange for working on ongoing projects at the Center. All participants are eligible to receive college credits through the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

  The Yiddish Book Center Fellowship Program offers recent college graduates with intermediate or advanced Yiddish skills an opportunity to develop professional experience while working as full-time members of the Center's staff. 

   

  Fellows serve as teaching assistants for college-level Yiddish classes, conduct interviews for the Center’s Wexler Oral History Project, develop educational and exhibit materials, assist with translation or online accessibility initiatives, and do bibliographic work with the Center’s collection of books. With the support of mentors, Fellows also apply their ingenuity and personal expertise to the creation of new projects.

  The UIC Heritage Garden is a hands-on learning project with an internship program. Student interns work with faculty, staff, and community members to connect horticulture with environmental sustainability, cultural diversity, and social justice. There are currently six satellite gardens on the east side of campus.

  Interns sustain the planting of the satellite gardens and offer public programs including tours of the gardens. The UIC Green Fee has funded paid internships since its inception in the summer of 2013. The six Centers for Cultural Understanding and Social Change (CCUSC) collaborate on this project with program infrastructure provided by the Latino Cultural Center.

  The internship will be from May 18 - August 14, 2015 with a one week break from June 29 - July 3rd. Summer interns will be expected to work 20 hours a week, from 9am-1pm, Monday through Friday. Interns receive a stipend of $2,400. Applications are due Friday, March 20th by 5pm.   Kartemquin has two great opportunities for students and alum, our Internship and Diverse Voices in Documentary fellowship, with deadlines coming up in December.

  Kartemquin Internship (with stipend): 

  Interns at Kartemquin will have the opportunity to train with an internationally recognized non-profit media arts organization and learn how social issue documentary films are created, from research and development to distribution and outreach. Interns collaborate and train with a team of filmmakers who have produced emotionally compelling, challenging, and socially relevant documentaries for over forty-five years.

  Internship duties comprise a healthy mix of office administration, business and finance administration, and assistance with current documentary projects.  Project assistance takes many forms and can include: production work; post-production work; project management; project research; grant research/applications; and film festival submissions.

  Autumn and spring term internships are part-time and run approximately 16-18 weeks. Summer internships are also part-time, unpaid and run about 9 weeks. Interns are offered a $500 stipend to coverinternship expenses. Interns will be expected to work approximately 16-20 hours a week, preferably spending at least one full day a week at Kartemquin. All interns will schedule their time during normal business hours, 9:30-6:00, Monday-Friday (except when assisting at special events and shoots that take place outside of regular hours).

  Diverse Voices in Docs (#DVID) is a professional development and mentorship program for documentary makers of color, organized by Kartemquin Films and the Community Film Workshop of Chicago.

  At the core of the fellowship are six engaging three-hour workshops at the Community Film Workshop, with creative advice provided by Kartemquin Films’ world-class staff and associates. Each session will provide practical skill-enrichment designed to help incubate your next documentary project, as well as time to network and share experience with your cohort of participants.

  Applicants should be filmmakers who have played a principal role in a completed production (producer, writer, director, editor, etc.) and have experience or work history that demonstrated their commitment to social issue documentary. We will facilitate continued engagement throughout the six-month workshop program, and connect you to an expert community, new collaborators, and a wider network of funders and distributors. The program will culminate in exposure through a final public exhibition.

  The Office of Sustainability has partnered with the African American Cultural Center and community non-profits to apply culturally specific approaches to environmental sustainability generally, and energy efficiency/smart grid specifically.  We are seeking up to eight (8) interns for an externally funded project. The interns will work under the direction of the Office of Sustainability Associate Chancellor for Sustainability. Interns will either be assigned to a community partner or to work on with the UIC campus community to educate and engage them in learning about energy efficiency and smart grid and how it benefits them.
