WXRT-FM is looking for enthusiastic Interns who are eager to learn the dynamics of a large market radio station. WXRT has been nationally recognized as one of Chicago’s most legendary rock stations.
Throughout the internship experience, interns will be representing the radio station at many of Chicago’s largest and most exciting events, including street festivals and concerts. Intern works closely with the Promotions Manager and Promotions Assistants to fulfill all station promotions. WXRT interns will be closely involved in all integral areas of a radio station, including Sales, Production, and Programming. Representing WXRT in a public relations capacity is an extremely important role as an intern, and will contribute to the station’s overall image and success.
Duties:
•Organizing, preparing, coordinating, and executing promotional events for WXRT
•Maintaining the XRT VIP listener program both on-site at events and in the office
•Representing WXRT in a public relations capacity at station events, including street festivals, XRT concerts, broadcasts, and sales promotions
•Assist in managing the XRT VIP database with correspondence, event preparation and execution
• Basic administrative tasks, maintenance of databases, and mailings
•Assist with Listener Services including contacting winners and prize fulfillment
• Contribute Diary of an XRT Intern blog weekly and following major station events
•Work onsite sponsored events including distributing products and premiums
•Assist Webmaster in developing and producing materials for WXRT web needs
•Special projects as needed
Qualifications:
*Applicants should be responsible, outgoing, and possess excellent communications skills
*Ideal Candidate should be motivated, detail-oriented, have excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable in public events
*Available for weekend, evening and early morning work
*Physically capable of long hours (on foot), extended exposure to the outdoors, and able to lift 50lbs or more.
*Creative and journalistic writing skills a plus
*Organizational ability and attention to detail are critical
