Currently, Dr. Margaret Czart, Clinical Assistant Professor within the Biomedical and Health Information Sciences Department is seeking one or two Honor’s College students interested in assisting in a research project involving Canadian national surveillance data from electronic medical records.
Obesity is officially considered a disease in both US and Canada since approximately 2015. The purpose of this research project is to determine if healthcare professionals diagnose patients as obese and if so what are patient social behavioral demographics and other factors.
Those interested in the research project will assist with library research with a potential opportunity to have their names included as a contributor to the project in publications. The research opportunity may allow those to review aggregate data as it becomes available and presented in the publications. Most importantly those interested in research will gain experience in building research skills. It is preferred that the individuals have an interest in health informatics, consumer health informatics, public health informatics or other health related fields.
