  • Fall 2015 HC Tuition Waiver Application Available! Due Wed. 8/12

    Are you in need of financial assistance to help pay your tuition next semester? The Honors College has a limited number of fall semester tuition waivers available for continuing UIC Honors College students. The waivers will be awarded based on a combination of academic merit and financial need to full-time students with a minimum UIC cumulative GPA of 3.5.  Applicants must have earned at least 12 credit hours at UIC to be eligible to apply.

    UIC is thrilled to announce the adoption of UIC SnAP (Scholarship and Awards Program), which will help you in applying for the Honors College Tuition Waiver and other scholarships.     Application for upper-classmen: Each semester, Honors College students with a UIC GPA of at least 3.5 are eligible to compete for a limited number of tuition waivers offered by the Honors College.     Application for first-year students: For the first time the Honors College is proud to be able to offer a limited number of tuition waivers to incoming first year students. These scholarships are valued at up to full in-state tuition plus tuition differential (if applicable) for the Fall 2016 semester. Fees are not included in this award. Students are selected for these waivers based on a combination of merit and financial need. The waivers are specifically designed to assist students who may not receive sufficient financial aid through FAFSA. The Fall 2016 Tuition Waiver application deadline is August 24, 2016.     The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship application is now available. Fifteen $2,000 undergraduate scholarships, five $5,000 graduate fellowships, and five $5,000 professional fellowships will be awarded for the 2014 - 2015 academic year.   • Adelante! Chicago Scholarship Deadline, Extended to June 30

    The scholarships available include:

    MillerCoors Chicago Scholarship Amount: $ 3,000. Open to any student pursuing any major at their university. Students must be a junior or senior with a 3.0 GPA attending full time.

    MillerCoors National Scholarship  Amount: $ 3,000 /Renewable Open to any junior or senior with a 3.0 GPA attending full time. Students must be pursuing a business or communications degree.

    A&F Future Leaders Scholarship  Amount: $1,000 Open to any sophomore, junior, or senior with a 3.0 GPA attending full time. Students must be pursuing a business degree.

    MillerCoors Engineering and Science scholarship  Amount: $ 3,000 /Renewable Open to junior or senior students pursuing majors in Engineering, Biochemistry, or Computer Science. Students must have a 3.0 GPA and attending full time.

  • Honors College Research/Travel Grants – Applications Due: Feb 8 at 5pm

  • Ethics Essay Competition / Scholarship Opportunity, Due Mon. 10/3

    Four awards of up to $3000 are available to students with a demonstrated interest in questions of value and meaning in contemporary life. To qualify, students must be full-time with a 3.0 GPA in any UIC undergraduate college. The application will consist of a letter of recommendation from a current UIC faculty member; a transcript; and an essay that demonstrates an ability to think carefully and write clearly about perennial questions. This award is administered by the Honors College but is open to all full-time undergraduates. Deadline for submissions is October 3rd.     The Office of Special Scholarship Programs would like to remind you that the 2014 Scholarship Association Awards for UIC Students applications are now available!

    This year the Scholarship Association for UIC will be providing seventeen (17) scholarships for currently enrolled UIC students ranging in value from $400 to $2,000. Awards are generally for students of any major and also include recognition for academic achievement, campus and community involvement and financial need.

    We urge students to apply early in case they will be considered for an award that requires letters of recommendation! Students can apply online at https://illinois.edu/fb/sec/3738012.  The deadline to apply for the SAUIC Awards is at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014.

  • Donald and Leah Riddle Prize for Outstanding Seniors, Apply by Fri. 3/28

    The Donald and Leah Riddle Prize is awarded each year at Commencement to an outstanding graduating senior regardless of major field. Graduates from Summer 2013, Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 are eligible to apply. The award is based on academic excellence and leadership. The winner receives a bronze medallion and a $1,000 cash prize. The Riddle Prize is made each year in recognition of the former UIC Chancellor Donald Riddle and his wife Leah and honors the Riddles' contribution to the campus.

  • Now Accepting Applications for the Donald and Leah Riddle Prize! – Due: March 11

  • Honors College Research & Travel Grants (Deadline 2/26)

    A significant advantage of being in the Honors College is access to money to support your undergraduate research or other scholarly projects. Please see your faculty research advisor right away and start on your applications for several grants-in-aid, which are all due on-line Friday, February 26, 2016. All applications must be read by and supported by a letter from your research faculty advisor.

    (1) Research grants: All forms of scholarship are supported, including Capstone Projects. Maximum award is $1,000, for expenditures incurred since August 24, 2015 or anticipated for projects planned for current or planned research projects. Reasonable research expenses may be covered (but not student stipends). Please submit your application here: https://uic.academicworks.com/opportunities/1818

    (2) Travel grants: Proposals will be considered for expenses associated with presentation of research at conferences (e.g., flight, hotel, poster preparation costs) up to $500. Please submit your application here: https://uic.academicworks.com/opportunities/1815

    Whether you are conducting scientific experiments, lab research, or surveys, whether you are analyzing data from field work such as participant observation or in-depth interviews, creating a set for a play, designing a building, or exploring historical archives, you may apply for funding to support your research, attend professional conferences, pay for your Research Forum poster, and so on. 

    Please read the award announcements carefully, and follow instructions for submission of rationale and methods, detailed budget and budget justification, letter of support, and so on. Submit your completed online application--include support letter--by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2016. The online system will be terminated at that time and no late applications will be accepted.

  • Maurice Prize Award Competition

    Dear UIC Students, Faculty, and Staff:

    UIC Student Affairs is pleased to announce the annual Maurice Prize Competition. The competition is intended to foster innovation, creativity, originality, ingenuity and resourcefulness among undergraduate students at the University of Illinois at Chicago. These elements are achieved through students undertaking projects of their own choosing and executing a strategy to address their issue while applying their own knowledge, creative use of resources, and the ability to work with others to find solutions.

    The individual winner or team demonstrating the deepest learning and problem solving receives a $5,000.00 award. For more information about the Maurice Prize Competition, eligibility details, and to obtain the Letter of Intent to participate in the competition, students must login on the UIC SnAP, campus-wide scholarship management system atuic.academicworks.com.

  • Honors College Advisory Board Scholarship, Due Fri. 1/29

    The Honors College Advisory Board will award two $1,000 scholarships to current Honors College students. Eligible students must be in good standing with the college (3.4 GPA), enrolled full-time, and be significantly involved in Honors College activities and student organizations. This scholarship will be awarded during the Honors College Ball on March 5th; therefore, you must also be able to attend this event to be eligible to apply. For more information, see the application (hard copies can be found at the Honors College.)   • Nine Scholarships Ranging from $1000-$5000 from the OVCSA, Apply by Mon. 3/30

    The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (OVCSA) is accepting applications for nine competitive scholarship awards available to students across all colleges and academic disciplines:

  • Summer 2017 Diversity Fellowship for 4-week study in London

    The Study Abroad Office is proud to announce this new fellowship offered through our academic consortium partner The Council for International Educational Exchange [CIEE] and the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Center for Minority Serving Institutions.

    The fellowship will cover 100 percent of program fees and travel costs to study abroad for 4 weeks in London during the summer of 2017.

    Eligibility

    Open to all UIC students who:

    -are Pell eligible

    -demonstrate high academic achievement

    Intercultural Communication and Leadership; 3 credits

  • HCAB Scholarship, Due Fri. 2/7

    Each Spring the Honors College Advisory Board awards one $1000 scholarship to a current Honors College student. Eligible students must be in good standing with the college (3.4 GPA), enrolled full-time, and possesses significant involvement in Honors College activities and student organizations. This scholarship is awarded during a ceremony at the Annual Honors College Ball. Scholarship link here.  Applications are due Feb. 7 at noon.

  • APIASF AANAPISI Scholarship, Due Oct. 15

    The APIASF AANAPISI Scholarship application is now open!

    Last year 19 UIC students received generous scholarships from APIASF, and you could very well join their ranks.  The application is available here: https://aanapisischolarship.apiasf.org/.  Award amounts vary between $2500 - $5000.

    Eligibility Requirements:

    - Be of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity as defined by the U.S. Census.

    -  Be a citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the United States. Citizens of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of Palau are also eligible to apply.

    - Have applied for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Applicants do not necessarily need to be recipients of federal financial aid to be eligible for a scholarship from APIASF. Go to www.fafsa.gov for more information

    Please note the following:

    Full-time enrollment and degree-seeking status is defined by the guidelines set by the institution's Registrar's Office.

    Non-degree seeking students are NOT eligible to apply.

    Students who already have a bachelor's degree are NOT eligible to apply When you apply, you can be a part-time student, however, you must be enrolled full-time upon receipt of funding.

    Solely online students are not eligible to apply. If you are enrolled in online and on ground courses, no more than 1/2 of your courses can be online.

    Becas Univision Scholarship Program

    As part of our Univision Educación campaign, Univision has launched, like we do every year, our highly anticipated program, Becas Univision in support of hispanic students.

    These scholarships are available for all latino students residing in the US. 34 students will receive a scholarship of $5k each

    Eligibility Requirements
    • Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for high school students, community college transfers and current college students
    • Be of Hispanic heritage
    • Must be 1st Generation to attend college (neither your mother nor your father has attended college)
    • Demonstrate financial need. This is determined based on your family income, number of people that reside in your household and the number of college students in your home.
