  • AAAN Roundtable Discussion

    On November 12th, 2019, UIC's African American Academic Network (AAAN) hosted a Roundtable Discussion. The AAAN is a program on campus to promote success and high impact engagement for students of African descent through advising, student advocacy, and structured leraning opportunities.

  • Doctoral Nursing Student Forum

    On October 2nd, 2019, the Urban Health program hosted a Doctoral Student Forum for underrepresented racial/ethnic minority nursing students of the Chicago area. Objectives of the evening included rich discussion on the advantages and challenges associated with the experience of being a person of color in doctoral nursing education.

  • WHOLE INTERNATIONAL INC. Back 2 School Launch Party

    On August 31st, the Urban Health Program College of Nursing Student Association sent volunteers to Munster, Indiana for the WHOLE INTERNATIONAL INC. Back 2 School Launch Party. WHOLE INTERNATIONAL INC. is a community based nonprofit organization that serves the Greater Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana area.

  • Behind The Scrubs hosted by UCONSA

    On April 29th, 2019 the Urban Health College of Nursing Student Organization (UCONSA) hosted its 4th annual fundraiser, Behind The Scrubs. The show consisted of UIC's very own BSN students' talents, beyond the ones they have been mastering in their scrubs at clinical and lab.

  • TRIO Local STEM Conference

    On April 21, 2019, 50 high school students took part in the UHP TRIO Local STEM Conference. This conference is an opportunity for local high school students to gain confidence as they navigate through their college journey.

  • Von Steuben High School UIC West Campus Visit

    On April 9, 2019, 90 senior class students of the Von Steuben High School visited west campus colleges including the Applied Health Sciences, Dentistry, Medicine, and Nursing. There was also a panel after lunch, giving the students opportunity to ask questions about the various health programs offered here at UIC. 

  • Health Professions Career Conference

    The UIC Urban Health Program and Projects Outreach Program held a day long careers conference in early March for underserved minority high school students. UIC Health Profession Students and Professionals from different career paths attended the event to share their experiences with high school students.

  • Prospective Student Mock Interviews

    In February 2019, UHP offered three mock interview sessions for all prospective BSN and Graduate Entry MS students. Over 120 applicants participated in the mock interview sessions to prepare for their respective application interviews upcoming in March and April...

  • Wear Red Ball Event

    On February 15th, 2019, the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN-IL) organized the Wear Red Ball event in Chicago, IL. The NAHN focuses on advancing the educational, professional, and leadership skills of Hispanic nurses with intention to increase the number of Hispanic researchers, administrators, and educators.   • Westinghouse College Prep Lab Day & Panel

    On February 8th, 2019, a total of 19 High School Juniors from Westinghouse College Prep visited the UIC College of Nursing. The students had the opportunity to learn about the different healthcare programs offered at UIC from faculty and nursing students.
