The beginning of the Fall 2020 semester is approaching quickly. Starting a new semester amidst a global pandemic can be very stressful. This article will focus on how to keep safe if you are attending classes, live in the dorms, or interacting with other students. There will also be some information on the new policies implemented by UIC.
Some recommendations from the CDC for those moving in to the dorms:
Delete
Edit embedded media in the Files Tab and re-insert as needed.
For those moving into the dorms or moving to an apartment:
- Make moving out as simple as possible
Try to follow the guidelines of social distancing when moving out. To protect your self and those who are helping you, make sure to sanitize your belongings before and after you move. Wash your hands frequently. If you find yourself frustrated remember that everyone around you is going through the same events!
Times like these can cause a feeling of isolation. Try to set up video calls or phone calls with friends or family. Make plans to watch shows remotely together or participate in digital activities.
Make a routine to begin a new foundation to the start of a new routine. Get good sleep, nutrition, self-care, and activities outside. If you are feeling under the weather communicate with specialists, even if its over the phone or through a text message. It is important to stay informed, but it is as important to know when you need a break from the news. Taking time to read a book, watch a movie or talk to friends are important practices to build resilience during these stressful times.
