    Accounting Aide

    The UI Cancer Center is looking for an undergraduate student to work 15-20 hours a week. As an Accounting Aide Student under supervision will perform the following duties:

    Reviews accounting documents for completeness and errors.• Prepares statements and reports which are factual in nature, require computation, and reflect the relationship amount accounts.• Corrects discrepancies by reference to source documents or records and tracing transactions through a series of successive records.• Researches accounting sources to obtain data for statements or reports and to reconcile accounts.• Operates and is responsible for mechanical duties and clerical accuracy of electronic accounting equipment.• Makes recommendations to eliminate unnecessary clerical steps in the processing and recording of transactions.• Performs related duties as assigned.

    Business and Accounting Majors preferred. Must have 1 year of training in accounting or bookkeeping or one year of experience in accounting or bookkeeping work.Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.

    Student Marketing Assistant

    The Student Marketing Assistant will assist in providing content for the Asian American Resource and Cultural Center blog AARCCorner, editing and designing the Asian American Student Resource Book, and creating publicity for AARCC events including Asian American Awareness Month.

    We are seeking a creative student with graphic design and marketing skills who can work independently.  Experience with Adobe Photoshop and After Effects are a plus.  This position will start August 2015 with summer work possibility.  You will need to be an undergraduate student maintaining at least six credit hours Fall 2015.

    General Duties:

    This position is for the 2015-2016 academic year (August 2015 - May 2016). Student Marketing Assistant

    Under the supervision of the director, the Student Marketing Assistant performs the following: Maintenance of AARCC blog, YouTube channel, Facebook page, and Twitter account.

    Assist in the maintenance of AARCC website content.

    Lead in the design and editing of the Asian American Resource Book.

    Design outreach brochures and marketing materials. Assist with the coordination of special events. Act as photographer and videographer of special events.

    Develop educational and promotional videos. Provide customer service and respond to general inquiries via phone and e-mail. Perform other general office support tasks. 

     

    Desired Qualifications:

    One year of experience in a related marketing position; experience with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects; basic website maintenance skills; some blogging and video creation experience.  Fine Arts major with Moving Images focus preferred. 

    Starting Salary:

    $8.77/hour

    These positions will also assist with general outreach and publicity for AARCC events. We expect these positions to require approximately 10-20 hours per week. These positions start at $8.77/hour (with expected increase this summer) and are open to work-study (preferred – revise your FAFSA or contact Financial Aid to request work-study) and non-work-study students.

  • AANAPISI Undergraduate Outreach Intern Position Available for Spring 2016

    The UIC AANAPISI (Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions) Initiative seeks 1 paid *Outreach Intern* *with a special focus on outreach to Pacific Islander Students*. This position begins Spring 2016, with potential for continuation in Summer 2016.

    The AANAPISI program is fully funded by the U.S. Department of Education and aims to support recruitment, retention, and graduation of Asian American and Pacific Islander students at UIC. The intern will help to support the grant’s outreach initiatives, which includes: aiding with AANAPISI events; increasing awareness of AANAPISI programs.

    *Position Available:               *Undergraduate Outreach Intern

    *Hours/Week:                         *5-10 hours/week

    *Period of Appointment:       *Spring 2016, Summer 2016

    *Duties:            

    1.     Raising awareness of AANAPISI events and activities on campus to thePacific Islander community

    2.     Planning, developing, and coordinating outreach strategies with theAANAPISI Outreach Team

    3.     Knowledge and/or understanding (personal or academic) of barriers,issues, and organizations relevant to Pacific Islander students is preferred, though not required.

    4.     Providing general outreach assistance to AANAPISI staff and personnel

    *Qualifications:

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Applicants must be well-organized, resourceful, and energetic

    Previous experience in working with campus organizations is a plus

    Some evening hours may be required

    *Compensation:          *$10/hour

    This position is part of the AANAPISI Educational Employment Grant program offered by the UIC AANAPISI Initiative, Student Employment, and the Career Services Office.  Concurrent to their employment, student employees, along with their supervisors, will engage in a guided career development framework aimed at building lifelong career skills to support lifelong professional success. The UIC AANAPISI Initiative is fully funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISI) Program.

    *Eligibility

    Due to the federal funding restrictions for the UIC AANAPISI Initiative, student employees must be non-international undergraduate UIC students who are enrolled (part-time or full-time) during the academic year. In the summer, students do not have to be enrolled as long as they were enrolled in spring and will be enrolled in the fall. 

    *While Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) (http://www.uic.edu/depts/oaa/diversity/sdsb.html are eligible for student employment at UIC, we regret that DACA students are not eligible for employment in this program.*
