The UIC College of Nursing Urban Health Program (UHP) is pleased to share an exciting opportunity for pre-licensure nursing students (pre-nursing, traditional BSN, RN-BSN, and Grad-Entry).
Research consistently demonstrates that participation in mentorship programs supports academic achievement and professional success (Johnson, in press; Kram, 1985). Guided by these principles, the UHP Nursing Mentorship Program will be offered February 2–May 2, 2026, and is open to all pre-licensure students.
The program will convene virtually via Zoom, meeting once per week throughout the spring semester. Its purpose is to provide meaningful support, strengthen resilience, and promote academic excellence. Students nearing graduation are especially encouraged to apply.

Over the course of 12 weeks, mentor-facilitators will lead engaging discussions on topics that are often overlooked but essential to student success, including:
- The unwritten “rule book” of success in higher education
- Study Strategies 2.0: Why yesterday’s skills may not meet today’s demands
- Mentorship: Finding a mentor and being an effective mentee
- Building a growth mindset
- Radical Leadership Skills: 101
- And many more!
All pre-licensure nursing students—including undergraduate nursing, RN-to-BSN, Graduate Entry Master’s, and UIC pre-nursing students—are encouraged to apply. Space is limited, and the application deadline is January 28, 2026.
Participants who complete the program in its entirety will receive:
- High-quality UIC apparel
- A certificate of completion
- An invitation to a celebratory luncheon during the final week of the program
