Position Summary
The Director of Clinical Operations will oversee the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) Medical Clinic, its daily clinical workflows, supervise clinical support staff, and serve as the point of contact for agencies charged with supporting victims of sexual abuse. In this role, you will report to the Vice President of Clinical Services to ensure adherence with budget guidelines, expenditures, staffing need/requirements, ensure clinical compliance are met, and clinical resources are current and available for the medical clinic and staff. You will work closely and collaborate with the RFUHC Medical Director and agency leads, evaluate/assess clinical support staff performance and recommend commendation or disciplinary action as necessary. You will be directly involved in hiring and training of new clinical support staff to ensure they understand our standard procedures and are equipped to provide excellent care to our patients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Development and implementation of medical clinic protocol and policies for the treatment of sexual assault patients, including photography and patient response.
- Maintains clinical oversight under the supervision of the Medical Director and information as needed to ensure program functions.
- Ensures compliance with current National and State-wide legislation, state-mandated practices, and protocols and maintains knowledge of Best Practice for the program.
- Actively leads and coordinates patient care with Regional Sexual Assault Multi-Disciplines including but not limited to: Lake County Sexual Assault Coordinator, Zacharias Rape Advocacy Center, Lake County Children's Advocacy Center, Lake County State's Attorney's Office, and Law Enforcement in various local jurisdictions.
- Works with RFUHC Leadership to obtain and negotiate MOU's (Memorandums of Understanding) with required collaborative agencies such as advocacy and rape crisis centers.
- Responsible for SANE program staffing scheduling during and after normal business hours.
- Maintains supplies and equipment as needed to conduct forensic medical examinations.
- Performs medical evaluations and delivers treatment for sexual assault patients for all ages.
- Photographs and documents injuries sustained as a result of sexual assault.
- Provides forensic findings related to the crime to police departments, the State's Attorney's Office, and the Department of Children and Family Services, as appropriate.
- Works collaboratively with the internal and external department Directors and County-wide Sexual Assault Response Team, including local crime lab, law enforcement agencies, and health department.
- Oversees and gathers statistical program data, evidence kit tracking, and required regulatory submissions.
- Coordinates and implements SANE training activities, both initial and continuing education; conducts clinical precept opportunities, and peer review and serves as a mentor for aspiring SANEs.
- Responsible for Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation training and maintenance of specific for forensic nursing, on-site and system-wide.
- Develops and leads ongoing forensic education program covering a variety of skills and topics such as physical assessment, photography, Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault, and legal testimony.
- Establishes annual competency and quality assurance goals.
- Participates in relevant statewide meetings to ensure that sexual assault patient needs and SANE guidelines are addressed and in compliance.
- Schedules meetings to provide timely updates and disseminate necessary information to ensure program functions.
- Assists child advocacy team members in preparing for courtroom proceedings.
- Ability to collect and documents medical forensic evidence from pediatric and adolescent sexual assault patient. Adult and Geriatric, as appropriate and necessary.
- Maintain and distribute resource information for counseling and community services.
- Support and coordinate relevant community education, public outreach, and policy development.
- Create and present sexual assault training for a variety of professional audiences including medical providers, SANEs in training, law enforcement, and first responders.
Additional Clinical Responsibilities:
- Ensures appropriate and engaging communications between the providers, clinical support team, internal/external customers, patients, claimants and RFUHC/RFUMS leadership
- Maintain clinical guidelines by reviewing, editing and updating RFUHC policies and procedures
- Adopt and implement innovative clinical practices to improve the delivery of safe patient care at the clinics
- Participate with strategic planning and implementation to create growth and expansion
- Lead projects as assigned and manage the process from pre-planning to implementation
- Identify and implement enhanced/improved patient service requirements
- Ensures compliance with HIPAA and other critical privacy regulatory requirements
- Develops and implements clinical goals and objectives
- Develop, track and monitor clinical metrics to ensure optimal and safe delivery of patient care
- Develop and manage clinic schedules, clinic hours, and time off requests
- Recruit, select, train and provide guidance to clinical support staff
- Manage clinical operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing programmatic, operational, and personnel policies and procedures
- Create and establish a compassionate environment to deliver a great experience to patients, families, guardians and families
- Ensures that all clinic equipment is operational and meeting manufacturers repair and maintenance requirements monitored through a log to ensure compliance
Staff Oversight Responsibilities:
- Designs, applies and maintains new staff orientation processes
- Recommends optimal staffing to perform program functions efficiently
- Reports on performance issues with management
- Reviews office workflows and patient throughput to ensure staff are meeting performance expectations and requirements
- Facilitates necessary continuing education and training for staff to encourage and support staff development
- Work cooperatively with RFUHC leadership with regards to staffing, supply ordering, and scheduling

Required Education & Experience
- Completion of advanced degree
- Three years of clinical experience in an outpatient or inpatient hospital environment
- Active RN IL license with no restrictions
- Active SANE Certification(s)
- Current BLS or ACLS certification
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
- Strong working knowledge of electronic scheduling systems, Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and case management programs
