Job Title: Medical Education Program Specialist

Duties & Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Program Director and Manager, will coordinate the daily functions of the program and follow complex policies, procedures and program guidelines (such as those from ACGME and the institution's GME office). Will work independently to identify, troubleshoot and report compliance issues and assist in correcting situations.
Maintain proficiency in the databases that support the residents' schedule, evaluations, vacation and time off. Generates compliance reports as requested. Ensure compliance with accreditation, licensing board, professional association, ACGME requirements, GME Office requirements for the residency curriculum.
Support and assist in coordinating the annual program recruitment and orientation for new residents. Includes all on-boarding activities required by the Institution's GME office. Ensure interns are credentialed before starting the program. Also, assists in completion of off-boarding and graduation activities following departmental and GME guidelines.
Coordinate didactic schedules with program supervisory staff/program director, distribute schedules, initiate and summarize didactic evaluations. Complete other program related forms, (verifications of training, credentialing, letters of good standing).
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or combination totaling four (4) years (48 months), from the categories below:
A. College coursework in medical education, education, communications, public relations, or a closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
B. Progressively more responsible clerical or secretarial experience, including a background in electronic word processing and database management systems.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of accreditation standards in the medical education field. Any experience in accreditation standards in the medical education field will qualify as meeting the specialty factor requirements.
Please Note: Completion of the Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education Programs Certification (TAGME) from the National Board for Certification of Training Administrators qualifies applicants for each level of this series.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two or more years of college work, minimum 6 months experience in a Graduate Medical Education environment or higher education setting.
- Organizational and analytical skills.
- Good judgement abilities.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient with Word, Excel and other platforms.
