Job Summary
Assists the McKinley Health Center (MHC) Director in establishing standards of medical service and develops organization plans for Clinical Support Services to carry out the objectives of the health center. Functions as an advisor and liaison to the MHC Director. Coordinates the administrative activities for the following clinical departments: East 1 Clinic, West 1 Clinic, West 2 Clinic, Immunization & Travel and Women's Health, including personnel functions and capital acquisitions.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Clinical Administrative Duties
- Oversees the operations of assigned departments in the following areas:
- Day-to-day operation of the unit, including adequacy of staffing.
- Compliance with standards for accreditation, including credentialing of professionals and peer review.
- Budget requests.
- Adherence to University, Local, State and Federal regulations in establishing department procedures and policies.
- Financial records and purchasing negotiations.
- Liaison with University, Local, State and Federal health agencies in promoting good public relations.
- Personnel recruitment and management.
- Staff development and training.
- Administrative
- Works with the Director and other Assistant Directors in the development of the Health Center's strategic plan, goals, policies and procedures. Serves as a member of McKinley's Management Team.
- Maintains working relationships with colleagues in the community's healthcare system. Coordinates care of students referred to community resources. Coordinates campus initiatives.
- Is responsible for evaluating departmental program effectiveness in relation to ongoing needs, available resources and overall mission of the Health Center.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
Experience:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive supervisory experience in a health care setting with primary responsibilities such as personnel and performance management.

- Seven (7) years of professional nursing/healthcare management experience overseeing a unit or department in a healthcare facility with primary responsibilities such as personnel and performance management, scheduling, selection and hiring, infection control, policy development and enforcement, risk management and budgeting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of management principles and practices including budgeting, planning, staffing, evaluating and operating programs and knowledge of general principles of health care.
