Summary
Provide primary health care to students, employees and members of the community.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Identification, management, and/or referral of health problems related to acute illness, injury, and chronic illness for patients age one and older.
- Conducts age-appropriate data collection, including histories and physical assessments.
- Promotes and administers vaccines at all age levels.
- Orders and interprets necessary laboratory, radiology and/or other diagnostic tests to complete delivery of primary care.
- Formulates diagnoses and management plans according to relevant professional standards and practice guidelines, including pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic modalities, patient education and follow-up care.
- Ability to travel to client sites for delivery of care for the Occupational Health programs, Health Fairs and Outreach programs.
- Ability to perform venipuncture and collect other laboratory samples.
- Documents patient data, management plans and responses in electronic medical record.
- Performs travel visits for international travelers and prescribes appropriate travel medications and vaccinations.
- Performs Department of Transportation physicals and drug screens.
- Teaches American Heart Association BLS courses.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of primary care experience is strongly preferred. Experience with patients across the full age spectrum is desirable. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate excellent clinical decision-making ability.
- Exceptional time management skills and the ability to work independently and accomplish multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment are necessary. Qualified candidates must have a Master’s degree in Nursing and be a graduate of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner Program.
- Candidates must have a current Illinois RN and APRN License (or License eligible) with prescriptive authority.
- National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner and current BLS (CPR) are required.
- BLS Instructor certification preferred.
- DOT Medical Examiner certification preferred.
- DOT urine collection certification preferred.
Description of Hours: Tues 2:00 – 6:00, Wednesday 8:30 – 4:30, Thursday 8:30 – 7:00. Opportunity for additional hours based on patient volume.
