The Simulation Support Specialist is a 12-month staff position to facilitate student learning in the lab setting and use of simulation. The position will support day-to-day management of all aspects of the Nursing labs at Oakbrook campus.
Responsibilities:
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, provide constituencies excellent service, respectful collaboration, and active support of the University’s Mission in Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
-Develops and maintains procedures for: cleaning, storing and maintaining all clinical lab equipment; updating inventory of all clinical lab equipment and supplies; borrowing and returning of lab equipment; ensuring quality control compliance with equipment
-Trains and supervises graduate assistants in equipment preparation, maintenance, disinfection and cleaning, inventory, retrieval, and storage.
-Collaborate with Lead Faculty of all courses with a lab component
-Deliver concise reports of lab activity as requested
-Serves on the following committees: CONHS Budget Committee, DON Standards Review Committee
-Complete yearly budget and inventory for each academic year. Orders and stores supplies.
-Develops and submits written report of outcomes of all position responsibilities at the end of each academic year
-Participate in online student immersion days and Mastery days as arranged by faculty
-Assist faculty in the delivery of lab-related content of courses
-Collaborate with Oakbrook staff, Lab Coordinators in Romeoville, and NP lab faculty
-Support student remediation activities in the lab
-Support open hours in the lab to promote student learning and practice of skills
-Collaborate with faculty in developing and implementing simulation scenarios, writing scripts, maintaining repository scenarios, and coordinating standardized patients
-Participate in Faculty meetings as appropriate
-Be proactive in initiating projects and innovations to enrich student’s learning experiences-Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
A BSN required, MSN preferred. The equivalent of two years of full time, current clinical nursing experience is required. Previous experience with simulated manikins or interest in professional development to increase knowledge of computerized simulation in the lab. Licensure as a registered professional nurse in the state of Illinois or eligibility for it with the application in process is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
MSN preferred; prior experience in nursing lab instruction.
