Position Summary
This position provides clinical based assistance for education programs for medical students at clinical training sites focusing on the neurology clerkship requirement. The clinical nurse educator - neurology assists the Neurology clerkship director to provide hands on training opportunities related to nursing based clinical evaluation methods by participating in patient encounters and chart reviews to teach both technical exam and patient interviewing and skills related to neurology.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assists medical student neurology clerkship directors in integrating medical students within the clinical practices at participating training sites. Direct student involvement in clinical cases by evaluating patient medical conditions and directing doctors to patient cases that enhance learning opportunities.
Provide nursing focused education for students participating in the neurology clerkship by demonstrating technical exam and patient interviewing skills related to inpatient and outpatient neurology.
Participate in chart review and observe student/patient neurology exams to provide skill enhance opportunities to students.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Eligibility for registration with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
- Two years of RN experience.
- Current AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit specific certifications
- Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between patients, family, and health care providers
- Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training
