Nurse Extern Program
Over the course of this 10-week program, candidates completing their last year in school will be provided with exceptional professional development opportunities, making the transition from nursing student to confident, experienced RN.
Students will be matched with one of the following:
- Medical-Surgical
- Adult ICU
- Emergency Department
- Pediatrics
Specialty Nurse Intern Program
In this year-round internship, students will be placed in the PICU, NICU, or OR for the duration of the program. Our flexible program schedule will allow you to continue your studies and provide an opportunity to experience nursing at the University of Chicago Medicine.
The specialty nurse intern provides care to patients and their families by assuming defined patient care responsibilities and performing specific clinical skills appropriate to the role.
Students will be matched with one of the following:
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- Operating Room (OR)
