Summary:
The Training Center CPR Instructor supports the work of the Rush Training Center in a manner consistent with the American Heart Association (AHA) mission and guidelines. The Training Center CPR Instructor provides instruction and education for Heart Saver, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP courses as appropriate. The Training Center CPR Instructor exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Required Job Qualifications:
• Clinical experience as RN, Paramedic-EMT
• Current State of Illinois RN licensure or Paramedic-EMT certification, as applicable
• Progressive experience as an American Heart Association instructor
• Must attain Instructor Status in BLS, ACLS, PALS, NPR as appropriate to licensure level and current clinical practice.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Required
Preferred Job Qualifications:
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP instructor status
• Proficiency with database software, learning management systems.
• Baccalaureate degree preferred.
Physical Demands:
• Work requires the ability to walk throughout the Medical Center and to be standing or walking through most of the course.
• Work requires travel throughout the Rush Health System
• Work requires lifting or carrying objects 35-40lbs and bending and kneeling on the floor to demonstrate resuscitation techniques.
• The ability to check documents for errors, use a keyboard to enter or retrieve data.
• Work conditions include performing procedures where carelessness could result in injury or illness and contact with potentially infectious materials and/or strong chemical agents.

Responsibilities:
• Under the direction of the Training center Manager, assists with planning, organization, and successfully conducts, when appropriate, Provider and Provider Renewal courses for the Rush Health system.
• Travels to sites across the Rush Health System to provide emergency cardiac care education.
• Maintain records in compliance with AHA guidelines.
• In collaboration with Training Center Manager facilitates relationships for course development and scheduling within the colleges of medicine, nursing, and allied health and within the community.
• Ensures that each course follows the most current guidelines and core curriculum of the AHA.
• Uses the most current AHA) training materials.
• Monitors the course faculty during emergency cardiac care programs. Actively participates in site and instructor review per AHA guidelines.
• Ensures appropriate equipment, in sufficient quantity, is available and in good working order.
• Coordinates equipment needs with METC, General Education Recourses, University Simulation Lab, and other departments as necessary.
• Demonstrates proper use of all equipment to faculty teaching training center programs.
• Manage equipment, audiovisual and simulation, for emergency cardiac care programs.
• Reports damaged or poorly functioning equipment to the appropriate person for repair.
• Other duties as assigned by the Training Center Manager and the Nursing Director
