Job Summary
This position will provide services in a variety of capacities related to patient care management, organization, and communication, and will work with other team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality health care to the student population. Primary responsibilities for this position include patient care, including routine primary care, women's and men's health care, and acute care.
This is a part-time position that is scheduled to work 20 hours per week for approximately 9 months between mid-August and May each year.
Essential Functions
- Provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of illness and injury for students.
- Orders and interprets laboratory tests to identify health problems and risk factors.
- Writes prescriptions and dispenses medications as deemed appropriate.
- Collaborates with other members of the team (collaborative physician, counselors, community primary care physicians).
- Evaluates and provides follow up of care.
- Refers to community resources as clinically indicated.
- Obtains and records student patient medical histories, vitals, test results, and other information for medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Educates patients on diagnosis, treatment, medications, health promotion and follow up care.
- Displays excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to listen and ask questions in a sensitive manner with a goal to triage patient care accurately.
- Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.

Minimum Qualifications
- Nurse Practitioner licensed in the State of Illinois.
- Bachelor of Science and Master's degree in Nursing
- Pending or current certification with ANCC/AANP
- DEA license preferred
- Understanding of college health issues and a desire to work with students
- Knowledge of the general principles and administration of an out-patient care facility including rules, regulations and policies of an institution clinic
- Knowledge of current trends and legal requirements in provision of nursing and medical care
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, crisis management, and customer service skills
