Job Summary
The purpose of the advanced practice nurse (APN) is to care for patients in conjunction with a written collaborative agreement with a collaborating physician in the diagnosis of illness and management of wellness and other conditions as appropriate to the level and care of his or her practice in accordance with State of Illinois Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing Act. In the care of patients the APN uses advanced diagnostic skills, orders diagnostic tests, prescribes medication and drugs in accordance with the Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing Act, and administers medications and drugs. The APN uses medical, therapeutic, and corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$50.15 per hour minimum
Required Qualifications
Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse
225 ILCS 65 et seq.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Basic knowledge of office practices and procedures
2. The ability to keyboard accurately
3. The ability to operate standard office equipment and software packages
4. A working knowledge of spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence and paragraph structure
5. Good oral and written communications skills.
Work Hours
Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

3. Ability to stand, walk, sit, hear, see, write, speak. and read.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview.
