Position Summary
Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research is seeking Resumes for position of Graduate Assistant who would be working as a Support Associate. Applicants must be available to work between 8:30 AM and 5 PM on the West campus.
Computer Science students are strongly encouraged to apply. Resumes will be accepted until the position is filled. The position is for the Fall 2023 semester and will carry a appointment of 50% FTE with a Tuition waiver and has a monthly stipend. New students having relevant experience can apply. Candidate should be able to meet the following requirements and tasks.
Duties & Responsibilities
Troubleshoot desktop applications such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud (Acrobat) and Conferencing apps such as Zoom.
Deploying new equipment to staff (desktops, laptops and peripherals)
Taking inventory of existing equipment (new and old)
Assist users with any computer hardware issues
Monitor incoming trouble tickets and respond to them in a timely manner
Imaging of new computers
Assist users with mapping network drives and printers
Provide support for conference room technologies, which include projectors and video conferencing equipment
Use managed computing services for Windows and Mac/Apple desktops and laptops to update software/OS technologies for printing, and scanning, as well as email, VPN, desktop backup/recovery, and priority services.
Prepare or update documentation for the use of AV equipment and other departmental protocols and procedures.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
• Enrolled graduate student at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).
Preferred Qualifications
• Computer Science students of Mangement of Information Systems (MIS) are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Applicants must be available to work between 8:30 AM and 5 PM on the West campus.
