Job Summary
- Initiates, conducts, completes, and reports clinical studies/trials in a variety of therapeutic areas.
- Coordinates pre-study site visits of sponsor/s, participates in study start-up activities, assists with recruitment, conducts study visits, completes IRB submissions and other regulatory requirements, enters data into sponsor-specified system, assists study monitor during site monitoring visits, completes study close-out and archives source documents while ensuring compliance with protocol, regulatory and standard operating procedures (SOP) and follows Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
- Develops solutions to complex problems that impact the timely and accurate conduct of clinical research.
- Assesses and evaluates the patient's condition, initiates emergency measures as necessary, and intervenes appropriately in crisis situations.
- Provides independent professional care through the application of standing orders.
- Takes vital signs including blood pressure, pain evaluation, expiratory peak flow measurement, pulse, respirations, temperature, height, weight, pulse oximetry.
- Maintains personal and patients' safety with attention to bloodborne pathogens, sterility, respirator use and fit testing, negative pressure exam room utilization, psychological distress, and contagious diseases.
- Administers medications orally, by injection and intravenously, changes dressings, and obtains laboratory specimens of potentially infectious material.
- Analyzes data and records analysis and data into electronic medical record (EMR).
- Sets up and assists providers with medical examinations, treatments and surgical procedures.
- Educates patients about their diagnosis, contagion, self-care, follow-up, physical and psychological needs.
- Directs and guides Medical Assistants (MA) in their tasks.
- Oversees and insures the proper use, care and control of medical equipment and medications.
- Assists nursing administration in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- Associate's degree in Science in Nursing.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Science in Nursing.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- 3 years of nursing experience.
Preferred
- 1 year experience as an RN in an outpatient or specialty setting.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required
- Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana upon date of hire.
Preferred
- ACRP or SOCRA Clinical Research Certification upon date of hire.
