Duties & Responsibilities
- Evidence-Based Practice and Implementation Science Program Development
- In collaboration with the Director of Nursing Research, supports advancing the infrastructure of evidence-based practice and implementation science.
- In collaboration with the Director of Nursing Research, define and direct the long-term goals of evidence-based practice and implementation science to align with university and Department of Patient Care Services goals.
- In collaboration with the Director of Nursing Research, assess, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based practice and implementation science projects within UI Health and in collaboration with the UIC College of Nursing when indicated.
- Identify sources of funding for nursing and interprofessional evidence-based practice, demonstration projects, and implementation science including, but not limited to, local, regional, federal, private, professional, and in-house sources and communicate information to staff and/or nursing leadership and/or staff, as appropriate.
- Develop grant/funding applications and manage post-award responsibilities
- Supports identification and development of strategic initiatives related to evidence-based practice and implementation science.
- Engages in evidence-based practice/implementation science projects and collaborative practice projects with other hospital departments by leading evidence-based and implementation science teams, educating, and mentoring.
- Ensure that projects are planned, managed, and completed efficiently, including disseminating results. Monitor budget for projects as needed.
- Provide support and leadership for the implementation, spread, and maintenance of systems redesign processes and techniques across the Department of Patient Care Services.
- Develop evidence-based, implementation science, and quality improvement abstracts and presentations for conferences at all levels. (i.e., local through international), and articles.
- Develop papers for submission and subsequent publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Ensure that projects are planned, managed, and completed efficiently, including disseminating results. Monitor budget for programs, when applicable.
- Identify financial variables that affect research and support good financial stewardship in clinical trials and other research.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for our Advanced Practice & Research Council and other councils as needed within our shared nursing leadership structure to identify, appraise, synthesize, and utilize research for policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Become a member of or attend university and hospital IRB Committee as a representative from nursing when and where applicable.
- Support the partnership with the University of Illinois College of Nursing and other nursing school partners to promote collaboration on evidence-based practice/implementation science projects between faculty and UI Health nurses.
- Collaborate with school partner faculty and provide oversight and support for nursing students to ensure that projects are approved by UI Health, planned, managed, and completed efficiently, including disseminating results, and adhering to UI Health requirements.
- Identify areas of new research and support research planning through dissemination, as appropriate.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- An Illinois Registered Nursing license is required.
- Doctorate in Nursing Practice or PhD
- A minimum of five (5) years of clinical nursing experience with progressive responsibility
- A minimum of three (3) years of progressive nursing leadership experience
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Strong communication, customer service, and decision–making skills
- Knowledge of budgetary processes and financial principles; knowledge of labor laws, standards of care, and regulatory standards required.
- BLS Healthcare provider is required.
- Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other related computer applications.
- Strong communication (verbally and in writing) customer service and decision–making skills
- Detail oriented
- Ability to lead and train other employees
- General knowledge of office activities and grant development
