Searching for a UIC Graduate Nursing Student to Support Research Trial – Hourly Graduate
Job Overview:
Dr. Rose Hernandez of UIC Nursing is seeking a dedicated Hourly Research Assistant to join her dynamic team working on a groundbreaking randomized trial. Responsibilities and Duties:
- Actively participate as a key member of the research team for a randomized trial focused on hemodialysis patients.
- Assist in the recruitment and enrollment of eligible participants, demonstrating effective communication skills and a professional demeanor.
- Contribute to the deployment of virtual reality software interventions, ensuring seamless implementation and participant engagement.
- Collect and record accurate and detailed data in accordance with research protocols, maintaining high standards of precision and consistency.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain organized research records and databases, assisting in data entry and management tasks.
- Follow strict IRB guidelines and ethical considerations, interacting professionally with research participants and respecting their rights and privacy.
- Support the research team in various administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, preparing materials, and coordinating logistics.
- Participate in regular team meetings and provide updates on recruitment progress, intervention implementation, and data collection.
- Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts by providing accurate and well-organized information.
- Engagement in supplementary tasks as they emerge
- Preferred commitment to a one-year tenure
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current UIC Nursing graduate student in good standing
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Completion of at least one semester at UIC
- Bilingual Spanish and English speaker
- Previous experience in research, particularly within healthcare or nursing contexts
- Familiarity with research methodologies
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate data recording
- Effective communication abilities, both verbal and written, for interactions with participants and team members
- Proficiency in using relevant software for data management and analysis, e.g., REDCap
- Understanding of ethical considerations and IRB guidelines related to research involving human participants
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a research team
- Enthusiasm for contributing to advancements in nursing research and patient care
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving research priorities and task
- Respect for a diversity of individuals and experiences
