Job Title: Summer 2023 Nurse Extern Program
About the program:
Over the course of this 10 week program, candidates completing their last year in school will be provided with exceptional professional development opportunities, making the transition from nursing student to confident, experienced RN.
Core Curriculum Focus:
Students will be matched with one of the following Adult In-Patient Units:
Requirements:
- BLS (CPR)
- Request 2 professional reference letters prior to interview – one letter is required from a nursing instructor.
- Copy of most recent transcript.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher required
- 250 – word essay on “What being a nurse means to you?” and “How this program will help you achieve your future goals as a nurse?”
- Be enrolled full-time in an accredited ADN, BSN program or direct entry MSN program.
- Be entering the final year of an AND, BSN or direct entry MSN program with graduation expected by spring of the following year.
- Must comply with UCMC’s COVID-19 and Flu Vaccination requirements as a condition of employment

Program Details:
- Candidates need to be available for 3, 12-hour shifts for the full duration of the 10-week program.
- Positions will include night shift opportunities.
- Candidates will be expected to work some weekends.
