Veronica Bernard Community Health Summer Undergraduate Scholar Internship 2024
o Deadline: April 15, 2024 (see attached advertisement to share)
o When: June 17 to August 9, 2024
o Northwestern University’s Division of General Internal Medicine & Dr. Namratha Kandula are sponsoring the Veronica Bernard Community Health Summer Undergraduate Scholar Internship.
o This 8-week paid internship opportunity affords one undergraduate student an environment where professional skills can be developed and where there is opportunity to observe, assist, and learn about community health research conducted by the Research Team led by Dr. Namratha Kandula MD, MPH.
o Our team seeks to understand health, shape prevention, and inform policy to improve the health of South Asian Americans.

Students will receive hands-on research and outreach experience including but not limited to:
o Observing research study participant visits,
o Using Northwestern Galter Library resources to learn and conduct literature reviews,
o Community health education and outreach,
o Developing communication skills,
o Opportunities to shadow in primary care or cardiology clinic.
Note: This is a paid learning opportunity.
Qualifications:
o Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (and have completed the first year of an undergraduate program by the time the internship begins) – student from all majors or fields of study are encouraged to apply!
o Enthusiasm for community health and intellectual curiosity
o Ability to participate fully in-person for all 8 weeks of the program.
o Capacity to commit to 30 hours of work each week.
