Join Honors College Assistant Dean, Michele McCrillis, for the Chicago premiere of this co-production from the Lyric Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Los Angeles Opera.
Described as "haunting, powerful, and tender coming-of-age story" is based on memoirs from American Journalist Charles M. Blow. The piece explores themes of sexual identity and masculinity following traumatic experiences at a young age. Composed by Grammy-winner Terence Blanchard, the memoirs were adapted for opera by writer, director and actor Kasi Lemmons (Eve's Bayou) and feature a powerhouse cast.
