The Honors College is partnering with the Center for Student Involvement to help facilitate an inaugural campus wide book club! The first book will be connected to the MLK Commemoration Speaker, Dr. Ibram Kendi, and his New York Times Best-selling book, How to be an Antiracist.
Honors Advisors Alex Sainvilier and Lauren DeJulio Bell will be serving as book club facilitators. If you would like to join their specific group, or any other book club group, sign up today! The deadline to register is Friday, January 22. The registration link and details are listed here: http://go.uic.edu/MLKBookclub.
You can find more information the Center for Student Involvement’s website https://involvement.uic.edu/events/mlk-book-club-2021/.
If you would like to get a copy of the book, the Honors College would love to help with that! Students can complete the form at the link below and the Honors College will send a copy of Dr. Kendi’s book to you free of charge. Supplies are limited, so books will be distributed on a first come, first-served basis. Sign up now to be sure to get your copy!
Please request a free copy of the book here: https://forms.uofi.uic.edu/sec/1836573011. (Note: though we would love for you all to be a part of the book group, it is not required for you to request a free copy of the book. If you're unable to join the book club, you can still receive a copy of the book to read on your own time. However, you still need to fill out the request form to do so.)
We hope you'll join us for these exciting and important events!
