Join Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and Anakbayan this Spring 2021 Semester for a virtual OPEN MIC! Don't miss out on the amazingly talented poets as they share their own poetic words on this month's theme "Filipino and Palestinian Resistance through Art, Music, and Dance."
Guiding Questions:
- What are you breaking up with this Valentine's Day?
- How can we fight and heal through revolutionary love?
Leading the night will be our featured poet: Love Jordan
Love Jordan (they/she) is an alumnus of Loyola University Chicago and graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor’s in Political Science. During college, they were part of student-led organizing efforts in support of dining hall workers’ rights as well as free speech on campus. Aside from local student activism, Love also organized off-campus within the National Democratic movement of the Philippines, integrating with indigenous schools in Mindanao and eventually serving as the Vice-Chairperson of Anakbayan Chicago post-graduation. Currently, they serve as the spokesperson for the Chicago chapter of GABRIELA, the women’s organization of the National Democratic movement. Love is a rally poet, a proud queer activist, and a scholar of the people.
