Surprise! Just when you thought you’d seen all CSHP has to offer this term, we’ve gone and added a very special outing to see I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter at Steppenwolf Theatre on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 7:30pm.
This new work from playwright Isaac Gómez is a poignant and vibrant love story for Chicanas, adapted from the work of UIC Honors College alum, Erika L. Sánchez! Directed by Sandra Marquez, I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter follows Julia, a Chicago high school student navigating the trials and tribulations of following her dream of becoming a writer. At the same time, she works through the death of her sister, Olga, who might not have been quite as perfect as she seemed.
Content Warnings: Depression, suicide, sexual trauma, and domestic violence.
