Are you interested in participating in a project that could contribute to the future of transportation? Join Chicago Hyperloop! We are students from UIC and IIT, intending to collaborate and compete in the 2020 SpaceX Hyperloop Pod competition. We will be working in four separate teams that accommodate a wide variety of students. These teams will include:
- Structures: Designing and developing the chassis and other structural components of the pod using SolidWorks and ANSYS for CAD design and simulations. We will additionally be manufacturing parts at the machine shop and the Maker Space. Meetings will be Fridays at 6 pm in ERF 3072.
- Electronics: Developing sensor system to navigate and communicate with the pod. Electronic systems will navigate and control the pod. We will also be working on the power supply and control systems. Meetings will be Wednesdays at 6 pm at ERF 3032.
- Levitation: Design a magnetic levitation system (using either super conducting magnets or permanent), and researching Linear Induction Motors (LIM). Meetings will be Fridays at 6 pm in ERF 3072.
- Business: Reaching out to companies that might be able to sponsor us (either monetary, technical, or materials support). We will also be focusing on conducting a feasibility study on the pod that the team develops. Meetings will be Thursdays at 5 pm in ERF 3072.
