Group Volunteer Leaders Needed for the Global Youth Ambassadors Leadership Summit
A joint program of Chicago Sister Cities International (CSCI) and the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), the Global Youth Ambassadors Leadership Summit is an intensive leadership program in Chicago designed to build the next generation of global leaders. It is open to teenage girls, ages 14–16, from Chicago and its 28 international sister cities. As emerging leaders in their own communities, the Summit equips the girls to become agents of positive change in the world. The fourth annual Summit will take place July 20-27, 2019.
The Volunteer Group Leader plays a very important role in the success of the Summit. The ideal candidate is passionate about girl’s leadership development and fostering a learning environment. Group leaders demonstrate great leadership skills, compassion, and help to solve the problems of a diverse group of students. Group leaders act in logistical, support and facilitation roles to the participants and staff. The group leader will begin prior to the Summit and will assist in preparation for the summit and can recieve a $750 stipend.

Make-A-Wish Illinois in Search of Wish Granters
Volunteer to make wishes come true! The Make-A-Wish Illinois team is looking for new wish granters in Chicago’s South and West side communities! Sign up to attend a training. Pre-registration and a completed application are required in advance of the training. Wish Granter Training is approximately 3 hours. There is also a high need for bilingual English/Spanish-speaking volunteers!
Becoming a wish granter is a life-changing volunteer opportunity that you can do right in your community! You’ll work with a volunteer partner and Make-A-Wish staff to meet with children and help bring their heartfelt wishes to life. Upcoming trainings will take place on July 13th and 27th. Become a Summer Mentor with Chicago Hopes for Kids
Chicago HOPES for Kids empowers homeless students to succeed academically. Summer mentors spend two hours a week supporting an in-shelter program that is enriching and fun for students K-5th grade. Volunteers work with 1 to 3 children at a time on a curriculum that includes wiggle time, literacy, and enrichment activities.
The summer program provides literacy support and enrichment for children at the shelters to prevent academic regression. This Program meets 4 days a week for two hours and includes Nutrition, Art, Music, Around the World and STEM activities. Sign Up Now for the UIC Weeks of Welcome Service Project
The Welcome Service Project is an annual event for incoming first year and transfer students. Occurring the week or weekend before the start of the fall semester, the project gives students an opportunity to provide service as a group, build a UIC community, and kick off their journey to becoming an active citizen.
This year's project will take place on Friday, August 23rd and we will be working with a site close to UIC's Campus. Stay tuned for site and project announcement! Sign up here for this year's project.
