FUA (Fearless Undocumented Alliance) is a student-organization which was established in 2013 with the mission to create a supportive environment - academically, financially and mentally - for undocumented students at UIC. Our scholarship initiative began to address the financial hardship undocumented students encounter while attending UIC. Undocumented students on campus do not receive any type of financial aid; therefore, they are forced to pay out-of-pocket. They are also not eligible for many scholarships that other students have access to. Through our Gala last year we were able to fund-raise enough to award $8,000 in scholarships this year."
This year, we are hoping to fundraise over $12,000 for the scholarships we will offer next year to undocumented UIC students!
The UndocuLove Gala will take place at the National Museum of Mexican Art (1852 W 19th St, Chicago, IL 60608) on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 5pm - 10pm.
The evening program will consist of performances, speakers (including State Representative Celina Villanueva!), awards, a silent auction, dinner, an open bar (21+), and more! The museum's permanent gallery will be open from 5pm - 6pm for those who arrive early before the official program begins.
