2019 UIC Impact and Research Day
Registration is now open for the event, which will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2019! See below for the registration link.
Many students count on Impact and Research Day (formerly known as the Student Research Forum) as a way to fulfill the public presentation requirement of the Honors Capstone Project. Talk with your Capstone Supervisor and Faculty Fellow to see if Impact and Research Day is your best opportunity to publicly present your work. Spaces are limited to the first 300 registrants (no exceptions). Registration is on a first come, first served basis. If you plan to register for this event, please do so soon to secure your place.
If you do wish to participate, please resolve any scheduling conflicts on April 10 now. Work this week with instructors, lab leads, employers, etc., to explain the importance of this event and arrange make-up assignments for missing their class on April 10, if necessary. Be proactive. Full attendance of the Impact and Research Day event is required for it to count as the public presentation component of your Honors Capstone Project.
Impact and Research Day is a judged event with monetary prizes for those presenters with the strongest project abstracts and the most effective poster designs and presentations. To prepare your abstract for the registration page, and to prepare a strong poster design and presentation, please consult the following video presentations offered by the Honors College:
Abstract Writing Presentation
This presentation reviews information and best practices pertaining to writing a clear, concise, and effective conference abstract. Basic components of a good abstract and an abstract example that demonstrates these components will be considered.

Poster Design and Presentation Workshop
This presentation reviews information and best practices about how to design and present a good research poster. Elements of strong poster design and examples of good posters will be considered, along with what you should and should not do in order to give a winning presentation of your research.
