Great opportunity for Honors College students interested in computer science, industrial engineering, pre-health (medicine, destistry, pharmacy, nursing), patient safety, and/or applied psychology!
UIC's Department of Biomedical and Health Information Science's SAFE-T lab is currently in need of some volunteer undergraduates interested in computer science, industrial Engineering, pre-med/dentistry/pharmacy/nursing, patient safety, and/or applied psychology to serve as research assistants in our lab for the Spring semester. Key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting literature reviews
- Reading scholarly articles
- Writing sections of reports, papers (based on writing abilities)
- Preparing and helping to edit presentations
- Data entry, transcription, and analysis
- Development of their own research ideas that can be presented at conferences, class projects, etc.
- Other day to day research activities on both applied and academic research projects as needed
In return for your assistance, I am happy to write recommendation letters for hardworking RAs who would like to go on to graduate school, provide advice and mentorship on how to get into graduate programs or jobs, and facilitate the development of student led research projects for course or work-study credit (including Vice Chancellor Research Awards, Independent Research courses and Distinction in the Major). Projects that RAs will be working on are related to collaborative healthcare teams, electronic health records, health information technologies, sociotechnical systems, and simulation, with emphasis on applied projects in the medical field.
I request that RAs volunteer a minimum of 5 hours per week for the Spring 2019 semester.
