Wanxiang Fellows Program in China (grant covers airfare, accommodation, and tuition espenses)
Supported by a generous grant from the Wanxiang Corporation, the University of Illinois at Chicago joins its sister campuses in Urbana and Springfield to offer a unique opportunity for undergraduates to learn about the challenges and opportunities related to sustainability, green technology, and renewable resources in China in the unique cultural and natural environments of the urban landscapes of Beijing and Hangzhou. These two cities are connected by the Grand Canal, a unique engineering project as the longest and largest ancient artificial waterway in the world. For several hundred years, it has enabled cultural exchange, trade, and political integration between the north and south of China and is today a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Wanxiang Fellow Support (paid for by the grant):
- International airfare and all transportation within China
- Accommodation and most meals during the program dates
- Course tuition and fees
Fellows are responsible for:
- Applicable CampusCare costs [est. $380]
- Required International Health Insurance [est. $30]
- Personal expenses e.g. books, meals not covered by the program, passport/visa [est. $250]
UIC Study Abroad Support
- A Study Abroad staff member will accompany the group for the duration of the China module.
