Women’s Health Initiative is a group of students interested in learning about health disparities across different communities and cultures. We see the healthcare complex as an interaction between all kinds of fields: medicine, public health, policy, law, journalism, and more.
Our next speaker of the semester is Dr. Valencia, whose career has revolved around public health and working to reduce health inequalities, improve oral health outcomes, and increase access to dental services for under-resourced populations. She is currently the Director of the Oral Health Forum, a community-centered initiative committed to improving oral health programs and services for all Chicago residents through education, assessment, policy and program development, and network collaboration. She is also leading a partnership effort with Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Department of Public Health.
Join us on 03/08/2021 from 5-6pm!

We think that students in the Honors College will be interested in learning more about the healthcare system and disparities involved, all while becoming more aware of the issues related specifically to oral health services in Chicago. In addition, Honors College students may be likely to pursue professional degrees or specialized careers and would benefit from the networking and development opportunities we provide, and this event would be a great opportunity for that.
We hope to see you there!
