Our mission is to show underprivileged kids that science can be and is an exciting world to explore! We volunteer biweekly on Saturdays at Lydia Home and the Rice Center to help at-risk kids better connect to science.
We meet twice a month to create and test out fun, hands-on experiments for the kids at Lydia and Rice. At the centers, each member has a chance to develop their leadership skills and lead the kids through the experiment and teach them science at separate stations. We create fun and safe environments for curious kids to explore their passions.
Because this is a volunteering-based activity, you can use this as your Honors activity for either semester. Also, we do have a training position opening up for the executive board this year. More information will be given at the organization meeting.
We will be meeting this upcoming Wednesday, Oct. 3 and next Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 5pm at Burnham Hall 121. More information about the organization will be given then. Join us if science, teaching, or volunteering interests you!
