Honors College students who are interested in service and/or civic engagement this fall, this announcement is for you! We have a separate email listserv used to reach out to students who would like to get more involved with the Honors College around service and civic engagement. This includes opportunities to help folks register to vote in upcoming elections, hearing first about guest speakers related to service and civic engagement (i.e., potential Future of Chicago lunches with local politicians and community leaders), learning about volunteer opportunities as an Honors College representative in service programs both on and off campus, and more.
If you would like to receive occasional emails about such opportunities, or have ideas for even more that the Honors College can do to get involved with civic engagement and service, please send an email to hcservice@uic.edu to be added, or you can add youself by visiting listserv.uic.edu and searching for "hcservice".
Our first civic engagement opportunity is to help register voters and assist with activities around voting on Tuesday 9/24 between 10:30am and 1:30pm in the main entrance of Burnham Hall. If you would like to volunteer, please email gottleib@uic.edu by Sunday (9/22) and share what times work best with your schedule. You do not need to know how to register voters, as you will receive an overview before you begin if you volunteer to help. Check out this video on the Honors College Instagram to see what the voter engagement activity looked like last year: https://www.instagram.com/p/BoKRgHVhR7L/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link.
