GlobeMed at UIC is excited to announce a joint advocacy initiative with Partners in Health! PIH is a global health organization founded by Dr. Paul Farmer which seeks to promote social justice and health equity among vulnerable populations. With health disparities exacerbated due to the COVID-19 pandemic, PIH is leading a campaign to advance legislation bringing structural change towards healthcare for all. Our UIC GlobeMed chapter is partnering with PIH during the Spring 2021 semester to support their campaign efforts by virtually meeting with Congresspeople and asking them to support legislation that allocates funding for COVID-19 relief both domestically and internationally. By building relationships with members of Congress and directly communicating the change we wish to see, we as constituents can actively contribute towards reform of health policy.
We will be engaging in this lobbying campaign for the duration of the semester, and participation is open to anyone who wants to be involved. More information can be found in the flyer attached to this email!
Please fill out this interest form (non-binding) if you’re interested in this opportunity and want to learn more, and you’ll be hearing from us soon!
