It's no coincidence that the brutal police and military violence that black Americans and Palestinians face are so similar in tactic. Join Students for Justice in Palestine (UIC SJP) for a two-day teach-in on "From the US to Palestine: the Struggle for Freedom." This event is open for all to attend and will be held on Zoom.
The first day is centered on Targeted Policing, detailing the tactics that the Israeli Defense Forces and American police use to surveil the Black and Palestinian community. Hear from UIC professors David Stovall and Andy Clarno, as well as Critical Resistance Director Mohamed Shehk. This session will be held on Zoom on Wednesday, September 23rd from 4-6pm.
The second session will delve into the Prison Industrial Complex, detailing efforts of mass incarceration in the US and Palestine. Hear from Birzeit University professor Lena Meari, Addameer Director Tala Nasir, and the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression organizing leader Frank Chapman. This event will be held on Thursday, September 24th from 4-6pm.
