We are seeking 1-2 curious, creative, organized, and tenacious undergraduate honors student(s) (i.e., sophomore or junior) to join the Children’s Participation in Environment Research Lab (CPERL) at the University of Illinois Chicago for Spring and Summer 2024.
The successful applicant(s) will be immersed in advancing active knowledge translation projects aimed at educating practitioners and scholars about best practices in cultural adaptation to inform upgrades to an evidence-based assessment that is designed with and for families of young children experiencing disability.
This mentored opportunity could lay the foundation for the student’s honors capstone project and benefit students who are considering graduate study in a health profession (e.g., occupational therapy).
Responsibilities and Funding:
This is a part-time (10-12hours/week in Spring, 12-16 hours in Summer) internship that will be directly co-mentored and supervised by Drs. Bosak (UIC Honors College, Class of 2019) and Khetani and immersed in an reputable lab environment that employs a team science model to advance pediatric rehabilitation research and practice. CPERL is a team of undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate trainees, directed by Dr. Khetani. We value a mentorship model, team work, tenacity, equity, innovation and quality in our work. When working at CPERL, you will have a unique opportunity to work in a thriving team with high productivity and high expectations. Each intern will be provided with a $1,000-$1,500 single payment upon completion of the internship. You will create a mentorship agreement and tasked to appraise and apply literature to curate appealing and creative materials (e.g., videos), therefore strong communication and computer skills are required. Experience with iMovie and/or Vyond is highly preferred but not required.
