Frequently Asked Questions
What is Success Coaching?
We believe the right person, at the right time, can change a life. Success coaches help students adjust to college life, realize true potential, and assist in accomplishing dreams. A Coach empowers students to thrive both inside and outside of the classroom. Success Coaches offer free academic support, information, skill development and advocacy. These coaches know first-hand the challenges and obstacles first-year students are facing and work closely with them to help form good study habits, solve problems, adjust to the demands of college life and more.
Who are the Success Coaches?
A team of Master level professionals who know how to help students take complex situations and turn them into action steps. To learn more about our team, visit: http://studentaffairs.uic.edu/ace/about/.
Where do the coaching sessions take place?
The short answer is, where it's most convenient for you!…Online, in-person, over the phone. We prefer to meet with you in-person for a few sessions before we get too fancy with technology. Our offices are in the Student Services Building on Harrison and Racine but we also hold hours at Student Center East (SCE). Soon we will be at the UIC Library and in the Residence Halls. If you need us to pop-up somewhere else, let us know and we’ll do our best.
When can I meet with a Success Coach?
Perhaps today! Find availability by using our online appointment scheduler:

Isn’t it too late to meet with them right before final exams?
Nope! Definitely not too late. We’re holding these special session hours and locations because we know at this time, more than ever, is when you might need support the most. “Crunch time” and being a “clutch player” are expressions that speak to how important it is to step up at the right time. When it counts most, what are you going to do to prepare? How do you do become someone who delivers at the most important time? The answer is simple – preparation. Work with your coach today to be prepared for final exams.
