We are looking for undergraduate students with excellent math and communication skills to become learning assistants/peer leaders in Math 090, 121, 180 and 181. Preference is given to admitted Math, MCS, and MathEd majors, but others are encouraged to apply. A Math Department faculty recommendation is requested.
This is a weekly commitment of at least seven hours:
- attendance of one hour each MWF in the classroom;
- a scheduled two-hour drop-in session each week for students in the Math Learning Center;
- a weekly content and pedagogy meeting with the course coordinator and other learning assistants;
- new learning assistants must participate in MTHT 491, Teaching Fellowship in Undergraduate Mathematics, an unpaid one credit-hour semester-long course that is offered on Thursdays at 3-4 p.m.
- Compensation is $10.00/hour.
