Interested in being a Honors College Tutor next spring? Apply today!
The tutoring application is now available online and can be found here. Please make sure you have scheduled your classes and have an idea of your spring availability before submitting the application. The deadline to submit the Honors Tutoring Application for Spring 2018 is Friday, December 1 at 11:59pm. There will not be an opportunity to apply later in December or at the start of the spring semester.
To be eligible to tutor for the Honors College, you must be in at least your second year (have completed two semesters) at UIC at the time you begin tutoring, and have a 3.4 UIC GPA or higher.
Tutors must commit to a total of 4 hours per week, between the hours of 9am and 4pm. Tutors will be working block schedules based on general topics, ideally working a minimum of 2 hours at a time. Please review the following tentative schedule before applying - but note that the schedule is tentative and may change, so you are still encouraged to apply even if the topics listed below do not align with your schedule.
Tutors will be selected and contacted via email before the start of the spring semester. If you are selected as a tutor, you will be asked to confirm/finalize your schedule within the first two weeks of classes, as well as complete required training. Please be aware that if you are offered a tutoring role but your availability changes in the spring, you may not be able to maintain your tutoring position. Official tutoring hours begin Week 3 of the spring semester (the week of 1/29/18). You may also be asked to participate in an in-person onboarding meeting, which will be scheduled as needed.
Please contact Honors Advisor and Tutoring Supervisor, Nikki Gottleib, with any questions or concerns - gottleib@uic.edu.
