About Pa’Lante
The Pa'Lante Conference is a weeklong Puerto Rican studies conference curated by UIC students. This year will be the 24th consecutive conference! It is the largest Puerto Rican studies event on campus that aims to provide a space for critical discussions on Puerto Rican identity, politics, scholarship, art, and more. Now more than ever it is essential to bring Puerto Rico back into the American consciousness. We hope you will consider joining us in educating the UIC community about the Puerto Rican experience and the complexities of the U.S.-Puerto Rico relationship.
Eligibility
All current UIC graduate or undergraduate students may apply. Previous conference planning experience is not required. You do not have to be Puerto Rican to apply and we welcome diverse student perspectives.
Committee Meetings
We will meet every other Friday from 10AM-11AM during the fall semester. Location TBD. Together the committee will decide on a weekly meeting time and location for the Spring 2018 semester.
Applications for the 2018 Pa’Lante Conference Planning Committee are due Monday, October 23rd at 11:59PM. Respondents will receive a decision on Wednesday, October 25th and our first meeting will take place on Friday, October 27th.
