Honors College Weeks of Welcome!
Starting Wednesday, August 18, and running through the first two weeks of the semester, the Honors College and the Honors College Advisory Board (HCAB) are scheduling online or in-person events nearly every day as part of UIC’s Weeks of Welcome.
Events will include:
- Social events such as new student hangouts;
- Academic Success workshops and tips on getting ready for the first day of classes and how to make the most of your Honors College experience;
- Wellness events to help you practice mindfulness, or de-stress during your first few weeks as a college student;
- Resource overviews so you know where to go when you need help;
For more information including dates and times, please click here to see the full schedule.
For the time being, the Computer Lab, the Lounge, Tutoring Room, and the Quiet Study will not be available. This summer we began remodeling our facility, and work will continue for a while. We’re eager to have you see and enjoy the new décor and furniture, but that will have to wait a bit longer.
Honors College COVID-19 Response
We understand that the impact of COVID-19 is real and difficult. That being said, we have established some protocols.
Out of an abundance of caution, masks will be required in all of the Honors College areas (BH 102) for the remainder of the Fall 2021 semester, unless stated otherwise. Signage of the most current restrictions/requirements will be easily accessible in all spaces. The Honors College will send regular updates out to the community through email and the Honors College Announcements. Be sure to read these notices on a regular basis.
Burnham Hall is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but when you come to the Honors College offices you will have to swipe your i-card. UIC has taken extra measures to allow for contact tracing in the event of exposure to COVID and swiping your i-card lets us know who has been in our space on any given day.
Access to the Honors College kitchen (BH 130) area, including appliances, will be limited to only Honors College staff members until further notice. This includes the use of: microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. We apologize for the inconvenience but as campus begins to reopen, we want to keep everyone as safe as possible.

Honors College advisors will have in-person as well as online opportunities for meetings. Online advising is available using a variety of virtual meeting platforms. Please schedule an appointment with your advisor as you normally would using iAdvise, located in your my.uic.edu portal, under the “Advising” tab. After you schedule your appointment, your advisor will provide additional information on how to access the meeting.
Don’t know who your Honors Advisor is? You can find this information in iAdvise under “My Network” or login to HARS.
In addition, each of the Honors Advisors will hold weekly drop-in hours. This is a good option if you have a quick question or a more urgent concern.
