Dr. Jennifer M. Kwan and her research team are looking for 2 dedicated volunteer students who are interested in contributing to a research project for the 2017-2018 academic year. The research investigates the differences in miRNA expression in adipocytes from lean and obese individuals. Students can help with data analysis with the possibility of being included in publications that come from this work. The work can be applied toward the Honors Capstone project. The research team will the students some data analysis techniques. Dr. Kwan is also happy to offer any guidance and mentorship regarding applying to medical school and combined MD/PhD programs for the student who is interested.
Requested commitment for the semester: 3-4 times/week, 4-5 hrs (flexible, depending on student schedule)
Student role and contribution: Data analysis, help with gathering references
Preferred Skills: R, excel, python, SPSS
Attributes: meticulous, follows through
Lab Location: College of Medicine Research Building (COMRB) 909 S Wolcott Ave.
