We are looking for Neuroscience/pre-med undergraduate (freshman/sophomore) research assistants who are interested in stem cell research for the treatment of neurodegenerative disease, stroke and Alzheimer's disease in particular. Our research lab is in the College of Medicine Research Building in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. The successful applicant will work closely with a graduate student on a research project that involves animal modeling, immunohistochemistry, and microscopy work. The applicant will commit to work-study during the school year, and devote at least 20 hours/week. Priority is given to Honors College students and Biology/Chemistry majors with high GPAs. Great experience for those who plan to go to Medical/Graduate school. Qualifications and requirements: work-study funds, prior research experience is preferred but not necessary. The applicant should be able to quickly learn and master new techniques, have good communication skills, as well as be mature, reliable, and organized.
