Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,
Every ten years the University of Illinois at Chicago is evaluated by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) to reaccredit our institution. I invite and encourage you to participate in several events during peer review team visits on April 24-25. The site visits are part of the process to reaffirm our accreditation.
To ensure that all members of the UIC community will be able to participate, there will be several opportunities to share comments and feedback with the reviewers:
Open discussion for faculty members (full-time, part-time, and clinical)
Tuesday, April 25, 9:15-10:15 a.m., Illinois Room A in Student Center East.
Drop-in sessions. These are open sessions for members of the UIC community who would like to speak with the peer review team or ask questions about the accreditation process. Appointments are not necessary; feel free to stop by.
Monday, April 24, 10:45-11:45 a.m., Room 2650 in University Hall.
Monday, April 24, 1:00-2:00 p.m., Room 2650 in University Hall.
Open forums. There will be five open forums during the site visit, one for each of the HLC’s criteria. Faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend these sessions to discuss how UIC addresses the HLC’s accreditation criteria.
Criterion 1: The institution’s mission is clear and articulated publicly; it guides the institution’s operations.

Criterion 2: The institution acts with integrity; its conduct is ethical and responsible. Monday, April 24, 4:15-5:00 p.m., Illinois Room B in Student Center East.
Criterion 3: The institution provides high quality education, wherever and however its offerings are delivered.

Criterion 4: The institution demonstrates responsibility for the quality of its educational programs, learning environments, and support services, and it evaluates their effectiveness for student learning through processes designed to promote continuous improvement.

Criterion 5: The institution’s resources, structures, and processes are sufficient to fulfill its mission, improve the quality of its educational offerings, and respond to future challenges and opportunities. The institution plans for the future.
