I’m excited to let you know about a new scholarship opportunity for UIC students.
Now accepting submissions for the “Central Infusion Alliance Medical Essay Scholarship”, a yearly $1,000 scholarship. It’s designed to help students who have been impacted by a healthcare worker. Tell a story of how a healthcare worker has made a difference in your life or the life of someone near & dear to your heart. This person does not have to be a direct family member but must be factually-based, and meaningful to you personally.
The winning submission will be chosen based on several factors, including succinctness, word choice, flow, and the ability to tell an engaging story. This is not a grammar competition, nor a creative writing challenge. Our yearly scholarship an opportunity to share a karmic thread of positivity regarding healthcare workers who have dedicated their lives to the service of others.
Here is a brief list of our requirements:
- Maximum one submission per person
- You must be willing to have your story published in our blog
- Profanity is allowed, but may be redacted if selected for publishing
- Length must be greater than 1,000 and less than 3,000 words
- Submission must be processed on or before June 1, 2017

The scholarship will be awarded yearly to one student who is a legal resident of the United States (or holding a valid student visa), enrolled in a two or four-year U.S. based college. The winner will be contacted on or before July 1, 2017 by phone and/or email. Funds will be paid directly to the financial aid office of your school.
